Forester

Forester's incessant need to expresses their current mental state, once again results in a shift in their music. Angrier than ever, Visionary lashes out at the rock scene and shatters any and all expectations tied to their previous catalogue.

High level branding has been key to each of Forester’s releases over the years. Always reaching for something new. Always reinventing and reimagining. Visionary is the groups latest expression of self exploration.

Promotional Videos

A set of both 9:16 and 16:9 videos were created to introduce the new look and place a call to action on the group’s music video through sponsored ads and instagram stories.

Music Video & Matching Spotify Canvas

Videos for heavier songs tend to use low lighting, texture and movement to match the energy in the song. Mirroring the striking contrast of piano in this genre, we wanted to create a iconic looking video that stripped away each of those crutches. Completely baring the subjects, relying entirely on their performance to match the energy in the song. We left nothing for them to hide behind.

Web Design

The bands website, which functions as an EPK of sorts, goes through a re-skin with each new release. Helping to reinforce the typography and colour pallet with each of the groups rebrands. The site was designed in a very minimalistic format to keep these revisions brief.

Social Media Profile & Content Optimization

Don’t fuck up the first thing they see. SMO sets the tone for how you talk about yourself.

If this feels disingenuous, then make it look different! The goal is not to look like everyone else, but unify your message across all your profiles. Half finished and half assed attempts at a unified social presence suggests a half assed attempt at other things you create…

Logo (Re)Design

While the original mark was instantly recognizable, Forester’s logo needed a refresher. It’s complexity and intricacy created problems with scaling and the production of merchandise (stickers and embroidery).

Not wanting to diverge too far from the source material, some letters were traced while others were completely redrawn. The individual pieces where then reassembled and rebalanced, creating the final mark.

Album Design

Forester had been obsessing over many different approaches to the artwork for this album. Michael Reeder, a Los Angeles based artist greatly influenced by the subject of defining identity, and a fascination within the individual self seemed like a perfect fit for this project. Seeing his piece The Ghost I Used To Be for the first time was like being struck by a bolt of lightning. Everything Michael had been trying to communicate through the piece is exactly what the band had been exploring with the album. The group instantly connected with it and eventually became the entire aesthetic that the band would build their brand around.

Limited Edition Vanity Skate Decks

To celebrate Vanity’s album release a short run of skateboard decks were created to sell at shows. The boards sold out immediately so a second run was issued. Which also sold out. Think outside of the box. There’s no need to mirror what other people have done. If you are looking for a new idea to create buzz around your project then let’s chat!

Merch Design

High quality soft goods are an entirely separate revenue stream for musicians. With album sales at an all time low, clothing is one of the most profitable sources of income, aside from performing (RIP). Despite having a primarily local market, Forester has managed to sell over 1,000 shirts and hoodies of various designs.
